Operator: DRS SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS LTD, registered in England and Wales (company number 17189542), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ ("DRS", "we", "us"). BucksTrail is a product of DRS SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS LTD.
Contact: hello@buckstrail.com
In plain English: BucksTrail is a personal-finance organisation tool. You log your own information; we help you organise it, see it clearly, and get reminded about it. It is not financial advice, and we never connect to your bank. You get a 3-day free trial with no card required — the trial never converts to a paid plan. After the trial, keeping access costs either £1/month membership or any paid plugin (which includes membership free). After you subscribe, renewals are charged automatically until you cancel. If you choose not to pay, your tools lock but your data is never deleted and you can export or delete it at any time.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
1.1 These terms are a contract between you and DRS SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS LTD for your use of the BucksTrail web application at buckstrail.com and its associated mobile applications (the "Service").
1.2 By creating an account you accept these terms, our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Refund & Cancellation Policy, which form part of this contract.
1.3 Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
2. What BucksTrail is — and is not
2.1 What it is. A personal-finance organisation tool: an expense log, reminder tools (renewals, card promotions, recurring payments), finance calculators, and related features, arranged as a core hub plus optional plugins.
2.2 Manual by design. You enter your own information. BucksTrail does not connect to your bank, card provider, or any financial institution, does not use Open Banking, and never asks for your online-banking credentials.
2.3 Not financial advice. The Service provides tools, calculations, and reminders for information and organisation only. Nothing in it is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and no output is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any product. Calculator results are estimates based on figures you enter. For advice about your circumstances, consult a qualified professional (for example, an FCA-authorised adviser).
2.4 Not a regulated firm. DRS SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS LTD is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not carry on regulated activities. We do not hold, transmit, or have access to your money.
2.5 Your responsibility. Decisions you make based on information in the Service are yours. Verify important figures (for example, a renewal date or a promotional end date) with the relevant provider before acting.
3. Your account
3.1 You must be at least 18 and capable of entering a contract.
3.2 Keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at hello@buckstrail.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
3.3 One account per person. Keep your details accurate — we use your email for essential service messages (see §11).
4. The free trial — no card, no automatic charge
4.1 New accounts receive a 3-day free trial giving access to the hub and the preloaded core tools (Calculator, Finance Calculator, Dashboard, Manual Expense Log). Paid plugins are not included in the trial.
4.2 No payment method is required to start the trial, and we will never charge you when it ends. There is no automatic conversion to a paid plan.
4.3 When the trial ends, if you have not chosen a plan, your account moves to limited access as described in §8. You can choose a plan at any time — during the trial, when it ends, or months later. Your data will be waiting.
5. What it costs to keep access
5.1 After the trial, full access to BucksTrail requires either: (a) an active £1.00/month membership; or (b) at least one active paid plugin subscription — in which case membership is included at no extra cost.
5.2 Paid plugins are priced monthly or annually. Both prices are shown before you subscribe; the annual price is pre-selected by default because it is usually cheaper. Example: Expense Tracker Pro is £1.29/month or £9.99/year. The amount you will actually be charged, and how often, is always shown prominently before you confirm.
5.3 Membership is included while you hold a paid plugin. If you already hold a membership and then subscribe to a paid plugin, we will stop your membership renewing — you keep it until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged for it again while you hold a paid plugin. We will tell you when we do this.
5.4 Starting a subscription is always your choice. The first payment for membership or any paid plugin goes through an interactive checkout you complete yourself. We never start a subscription on your behalf, and the free trial never converts to a paid plan. After you subscribe, renewals are charged automatically to the payment method held by our payment provider (Paddle) at the end of each period, until you cancel. If your last paid plugin ends, membership does not start automatically — you will be asked whether you want it.
5.5 All prices include any applicable VAT. Because our payment provider acts as merchant of record (see §6), the price shown at checkout is the final amount payable.
5.6 Price changes. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change affects you. If you do not accept it, cancel before it takes effect and it will never apply to you.
6. Payments and our payment provider
6.1 Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as merchant of record for your purchase. This means Paddle is the seller for the transaction and handles sales tax and VAT. Paddle's terms apply to the payment itself, and your receipt will come from Paddle.
6.2 We do not see or store your full card details.
6.3 Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period — monthly or annually, depending on what you chose — until you cancel. The renewal is charged to the payment method on file with Paddle. The renewal amount and next renewal date are shown in Settings → Billing and on every receipt. You can cancel anytime under §7; cancelling stops future renewals but does not shorten the period already paid.
6.4 Failed payments. If a payment fails we will tell you and ask you to update your payment method. If it is not resolved within 3 days, your account moves to limited access (§8). We do not charge late fees.
7. Cancelling
7.1 Cancel any subscription online at any time in Settings → Billing — no phone call, no chat queue, no retention hoops.
7.2 Cancelling stops future billing; it does not shorten what you have paid for. You keep full access until the end of the current period. Example: subscribe on the 5th, cancel on the 10th — you keep access until the 4th of the following month. The same applies to annual subscriptions: access runs to the end of the paid year.
7.3 Before you confirm any cancellation we show you exactly what happens — what access ends and when, whether anything else changes, that future renewals of what you cancel will stop, and that membership will not start on your behalf.
7.4 If you cancel your last paid plugin, your account moves to limited access at the end of the period (§8). You will be offered the choice of adding another plugin or starting membership — neither happens automatically.
7.5 Refunds are covered by the Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. Limited access — your data is never hostage
8.1 If you have no active plan (trial ended without choosing one, you cancelled, or a payment failed and was not resolved), your account moves to limited access: the hub and tools lock, and paid plugins and core tools are unavailable.
8.2 What always remains available, in every state: your Settings, and your right to export all of your data or delete your account at any time.
8.3 We do not delete your data because you stopped paying. Everything you entered is retained. Choose a plan again and it is all there, immediately.
8.4 To restore full access, subscribe to any paid plugin or start the £1/month membership, from Settings.
9. Acceptable use
9.1 You agree not to: (a) use the Service unlawfully or store unlawful content; (b) attempt unauthorised access to any account, system, or data; (c) probe or test the Service's security except via hello@buckstrail.com; (d) interfere with the Service's operation, including scraping at volume, automated bulk account creation, or circumventing entitlement controls; (e) resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service; (f) reverse engineer the Service except where the law permits regardless of this term.
9.2 We may suspend or restrict an account that materially breaches this section. Where reasonable we will warn you first.
10. Your content and our IP
10.1 Yours stays yours. You retain all rights in the information you enter ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to host, process, back up, and display Your Content to you, solely to provide the Service. We do not sell Your Content and we do not use it for advertising.
10.2 You can export Your Content in a machine-readable format from Settings, in any account state.
10.3 The Service itself — software, design, plugin catalogue, and the BucksTrail brand — belongs to DRS SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS LTD or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use it while you have an account.
10.4 If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Service communications
11.1 We send service emails that are part of operating the Service: receipts, security notices, reminders that your trial is ending, subscription renewal reminders, and notifications from reminder tools you have configured. You can control reminder-tool notifications in Settings.
11.2 We send marketing emails only with your consent, and every one includes an unsubscribe link.
12. Availability, changes, and support
12.1 We aim for the Service to be available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may perform maintenance and will try to minimise disruption.
12.2 We may improve, add, or withdraw features. If we withdraw a paid feature you subscribe to, we will give at least 30 days' notice and, if you cancel because of it, refund the portion of any payment covering the period after withdrawal.
12.3 Support: hello@buckstrail.com. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
13. Liability
13.1 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your statutory rights as a consumer.
13.2 Subject to 13.1: we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, or loss arising because you used the Service for business or commercial purposes — it is supplied for personal, domestic use.
13.3 Subject to 13.1 and your statutory rights: our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the amounts you paid us in that period.
13.4 The Service organises information you enter; it does not verify it. Subject to 13.1, we are not liable for losses resulting from acting on information or estimates in the Service without independent verification (see §2.5).
14. Ending the contract
14.1 You may close your account at any time in Settings. This cancels active subscriptions per §7 and triggers deletion per the Privacy Policy.
14.2 We may terminate on 30 days' notice if we discontinue the Service, refunding any pre-paid amount covering the period after discontinuation. We may terminate immediately for serious or repeated breach of §9, or where the law requires.
15. General
15.1 We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice by email; if you do not accept them you may cancel before they take effect.
15.2 We may transfer this contract as part of a sale or reorganisation; your rights will not be reduced. You may not transfer your account.
15.3 If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. A failure to enforce a term is not a waiver.
15.4 Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction — except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings, and rely on the mandatory consumer protections, of your home nation.
15.5 If you are unhappy, contact hello@buckstrail.com first — most issues are fixable. This does not affect your right to bring a claim.
